Acknowledgement of Country

Naggangbi. We, the deadly students and community at Daceyville Public School, would like to acknowledge the Bidjigal and Gadigal clans of the Eora Nation and the Country we are gathering on.

Our ancestors have taught us how to be safe and connected to Country through the tall gundhu on this land, through the burri burri travelling its song lines through our waterways and through the bujaan soaring through the sky above us.

First Nations peoples created ways for us to be lifelong learners. The red warada means ‘seen from afar’. We want Daceyville students to stand out like the warada. The yellow Grevillea, growing strong and healthy, reminds us to take care of ourselves and others. The green Banksia connects us to nature.

We respect and learn from our Elders of the past, as they have cared for our Country for thousands of years. We respect and learn from our present Elders as they hold the knowledge and spiritual connection to the dreaming stories. We respect and learn from our future Elders who show us how to be brave and make change.

Together we will continue to Get Up, Stand Up and Show Up!
