High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
  • We are dedicated to nurturing high potential across four key domains: creative, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional development.
  • Extension and enrichment programs provide additional differentiation and small-group instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, visual arts, and Project-Based Learning to deepen understanding and inspire a passion for learning.
  • Our technology-rich learning environment gives students access to digital tools that foster innovation, creativity, and exploration.
  • Students engage with experts and mentors from the community, gaining real-world insights and guidance that enrich their learning experience.
Across our school
  • Our school culture champions high expectations and equitable access to excellence, ensuring every student can transform their potential into talent, regardless of background.
  • A variety of extracurricular activities—including chess, choir, music tuition and band, dance, and the school magazine—provide diverse opportunities for students to explore and develop their unique strengths and interests.
  • We promote student voice and leadership through the Student Representative Council and Eco Leader programs, empowering students to collaborate with peers and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
Across NSW
  • The Game Changer Challenge, an initiative by the NSW Department of Education, encourages students to develop creative solutions to real-world problems using technology and teamwork.
  • Gifted and talented athletes have opportunities to participate in Primary Schools Sporting Association (PSSA), Zone, and Regional swimming and athletics carnivals, enabling them to showcase their abilities and compete at higher levels in supportive environments.
  • We are committed to equity and access, ensuring all high potential and gifted students across NSW feel supported and valued to maximise their potential and reach new heights in their learning.
